Bring your parents to Australia - long term Sponsored Parent (Temporary) visa (subclass 870)

Applications to sponsor a parent for a Sponsored Parent (Temporary) visa opened on 17 April 2019.

A sponsorship application must first be approved, and then a sponsored parent is able to apply for a Sponsored Parent (Temporary) visa.

This visa provides parents with an alternate longer term pathway to temporarily reunite with their children and related family in Australia, while reducing impact on Australian taxpayers.. This visa responds to community needs due to the limited number of Parent places in the migration program and associated costs and lengthy waiting periods.

To be eligible for the visa, a parent must be the biological parent, adoptive parent, step-parent or parent in-law of the sponsor, who must be an Australian citizen, Australian permanent resident, or eligible New Zealand citizen.

Visa stay periods are from 3 years to 5 years

Costs to apply or lodge either $5000 (up to 3 years) or $10000 (up to 5 years)
